Everything appeared to be in good shape – Citizens State Bank of La Crosse, Wis. had a standard tape backup solution in place. It ran on an industry-wide recognized software and hardware platform that met regulation and business process standards for backup and disaster recovery. However, there were potential problems that could spell disaster. The tape medium is typically not as reliable as other methods. Running their own systems meant the bank was responsible for updating software to ensure backups happened regularly and accurately – which is not their specialty.
LOCKNET IT Solution:
LOCKNET worked with Citizens State Bank to establish a more reliable and effective solution for backing up data. They chose a disk-to-disk remote solution, managed by LOCKNET. It works like this – every day, the data set is securely backed up to LOCKNET’s Secure Data Center with the use of redundant data vaults, lines and power. This data set is then mirrored to a second redundant data center. Each day, only changes to the data set are backed up at a bit level. This means daily backups are fast and cost effective, in turn, saving Citizens State Bank, time and money.
